Kunstgrasvelden zijn bij veel voetbalverenigingen jarenlang populair geweest. Ze zijn intensief te gebruiken, vragen minder klassiek onderhoud dan natuurgras en maken trainen bij wisselend weer vaak makkelijker. Toch zijn er ook clubs die op een gegeven moment afscheid nemen van een kunstgrasveld. Bijvoorbeeld omdat het veld versleten is, omdat er een nieuw type veld komt of omdat de vereniging liever teruggaat naar natuurgras.

Kunstgras verwijderen van een voetbalveld is geen klus die je zomaar even uitvoert. Er komt meer bij kijken dan alleen de mat oprollen. Denk aan de onderlaag, instrooimateriaal, afvoer, recycling, planning en de toekomstige bestemming van het veld.

Waarom een kunstgrasveld verwijderen?

Een voetbalvereniging kan verschillende redenen hebben om kunstgras te verwijderen. Soms is het veld simpelweg aan vervanging toe. Kunstgras slijt door jarenlang gebruik, weersinvloeden en onderhoud. De vezels worden platter, de grip verandert en de speelkwaliteit neemt af.

Ook kan een club kiezen voor een ander type sportveld. Sommige verenigingen willen een nieuw kunstgrassysteem, terwijl andere juist weer nadenken over natuurgras of hybride gras. Welke keuze logisch is, hangt af van gebruiksintensiteit, budget, onderhoud, duurzaamheid en de wensen van spelers en vereniging.

Breng eerst het bestaande veld goed in kaart

Voordat een kunstgrasveld verwijderd wordt, is het belangrijk om te weten hoe het veld is opgebouwd. Niet elk kunstgrasveld is hetzelfde. De gebruikte materialen, onderlagen en instrooimaterialen kunnen verschillen per aanlegjaar, leverancier en type veld.

Voor een voetbalveld wordt meestal gewerkt met meerdere lagen. Denk aan de kunstgrasmat zelf, infillmateriaal, een sporttechnische laag en een onderbouw. Bij verwijdering moet duidelijk zijn welke onderdelen blijven liggen, welke vervangen worden en welke materialen verantwoord afgevoerd of gerecycled kunnen worden.

Let op instrooimateriaal en onderlaag

Bij kunstgrasvelden ligt er vaak instrooimateriaal tussen de vezels. Dit kan bijvoorbeeld zand of rubberachtig materiaal zijn. Voordat de kunstgrasmat verwijderd kan worden, moet dit materiaal zorgvuldig worden verzameld en verwerkt.

Daarna komt de kunstgrasmat zelf aan de beurt. Afhankelijk van de staat van het veld en de gebruikte materialen kan de mat worden afgevoerd, gescheiden of voorbereid voor recycling. Ook de onderlaag moet worden beoordeeld, zeker als er een ander type veld voor terugkomt.

Recycling en verantwoorde verwerking

Bij het verwijderen van kunstgras speelt duurzaamheid een grote rol. Een voetbalveld bestaat uit veel materiaal. Het is daarom belangrijk dat dit niet zomaar als afval wordt behandeld, maar waar mogelijk wordt gescheiden, hergebruikt of gerecycled.

De kunstgrasmat, infill en onderlagen kunnen in sommige gevallen apart worden verwerkt. Welke mogelijkheden er zijn, hangt af van het type materiaal en de staat waarin het verkeert. Een gespecialiseerd bedrijf kan beoordelen wat technisch en praktisch mogelijk is.

Voor clubs die zich oriënteren op de verwijdering van kunstgras is het verstandig om vooraf te kijken hoe demontage, afvoer en recycling worden aangepakt.

Planning is belangrijk voor de vereniging

Een voetbalveld verwijderen of vervangen heeft invloed op trainingen, wedstrijden en de planning van de club. Daarom is het slim om vroeg te beginnen met voorbereiden. Zeker als het veld tijdens een zomerstop, winterstop of rustige periode moet worden aangepakt.

Denk ook aan communicatie met teams, trainers, leden en eventueel de gemeente. Een veldproject raakt vaak meerdere partijen. Hoe beter de planning, hoe kleiner de kans dat trainingen of wedstrijden onverwacht in de knel komen.

Waar moet een voetbalvereniging op letten?

Een kunstgrasveld verwijderen is een project waarbij sport, techniek, milieu en planning samenkomen. Voor een voetbalvereniging is het verstandig om niet alleen naar de laagste prijs te kijken, maar ook naar kwaliteit en verwerking.

  • Laat vooraf onderzoeken hoe het veld is opgebouwd.
  • Vraag hoe infill en kunstgrasmat worden verwijderd.
  • Controleer of materialen gescheiden en verantwoord worden verwerkt.
  • Maak duidelijke afspraken over planning en oplevering.
  • Denk alvast na over het nieuwe veldtype.
  • Communiceer op tijd met leden, trainers en teams.

Veelgemaakte fouten bij kunstgras verwijderen

Bij het verwijderen van een kunstgrasveld kunnen fouten ontstaan als het project te snel of te simpel wordt bekeken. Het gaat niet alleen om het verwijderen van de bovenlaag, maar om het hele veldsysteem.

  • Te laat beginnen met planning.
  • Niet goed weten welke materialen in het veld zitten.
  • Geen aandacht besteden aan recycling of verwerking.
  • Onvoldoende rekening houden met trainingen en wedstrijden.
  • Alleen naar kosten kijken en niet naar kwaliteit van uitvoering.
